A small beginning from Gorkha, Nepal

Skip One Cigarette Today.
Save a Life Forever.

What if the cost of one cigarette could become a meal for a street dog—and one more reason to care for yourself? This is a small, imperfect start toward a gentler kind of change.

No grand promises. Just one choice, made today.
Rabin Pandey, activist and storyteller from Gorkha, Nepal

Still showing up.

a step towards care

One cigarette less. One small act of care more. That’s where we begin.

A little about me

The Person Behind the Purpose

Change doesn't happen in one day, but ONE DAY it definitely will.

— Rabin Pandey

I’m Rabin Pandey—a student and active youth from Gorkha, Nepal, learning as I go.

I know change can feel too big to begin. So I’m drawn to the small things we can actually do: pause for a moment, think a bit more, be accountable and invite someone else along.

The 1-Cigarette Swap is one idea I want to try—not a cure or a promise, but a daily nudge toward caring for ourselves and the street dogs around us. I’m still becoming the person this work asks me to be.

Come see what I have in mind

A small habit, shared with care

What I Want To Do: The 1-Cigarette Swap

You smoke because nicotine tricks your brain into chasing a fake reward—a brief chemical illusion you buy by trading away your actual future. Think about it: what happens when your life later needs just a little more time to spend with the people you love? What if the version of you ten years from now desperately wants you to quit today, and that’s why this page is in front of you right now as a wake-up call? I am no one to force you or tell you how to live your life. Just think about it wisely.
This isn't about judging anyone or pretending change is easy. It's an invitation to pause, make one different choice, and see what that choice can do.

Come on! Let's do it... Why not?
01

Pause

Before reaching for a cigarette today, give yourself one quiet moment. Notice what you need right now.

02

Swap

If you're ready, redirect the cost of one cigarette—roughly Rs. 15–20, or about $0.15—to something kinder.

03

Make room for care

Your choice could help provide a meal for a street dog, while giving you a mindful step back from a habit.

Try the numbers

What could your small choices add up to?

Move the slider to explore a rough estimate. You can start with just one—there's no pressure to change everything at once.

1 a day30 a day

Estimates use Rs. 18 per cigarette and a 30-day month. Real prices, food costs, and exchange rates vary; one portion isn't necessarily a full meal.

Possible dog-food portions / day 1 one portion per skipped cigarette
Estimated savings / month NPR 540 about USD 4.00
Potential impact / month 30 possible food portions, if redirected

One step at a time

Where This Journey Leads Next

I have a long way to go, and I want to be honest about that. Here’s the path I hope we can build—with care, community, and the people who know these needs best.

  1. Active — beginning here

Street dogs, cared for with dignity

Start with the 1-Cigarette Swap, street-dog food, and basic medical care in the community.

  2. Next step

Show up for people who are often unseen

Grow into direct outreach for people experiencing homelessness, listening first and working with local support.

  3. The dream I'm holding

    A place to begin again

One day, help build a dedicated rehabilitation and recovery center in Nepal—where people facing addiction can find support, dignity, and a way to rebuild their lives.
